I really like the new ILLINI REBOUNDER website. The new design incorporates many, many new features and I encourage you to take the time to explore each link. You are now connected to everything ILLINOIS BASKETBALL, from our great history to our current game note’s, you have it all at your finger tips.

I thank the ILLINI REBOUNDERS for this new look. I can’t tell you how many former players and their families, current players and parents and recruits, recruits families and their high school coaches see this, it helps spread the ILLINOIS BASKETBALL message in a very positive way.

I thank your board members for updating and expanding this information base and look forward to sharing this with ILLINOIS BASKETBALL fans around the world. The membership has grown, sponsorship interest has increased and I am very proud to be part of all of this.

Harv played basketball for the Illini from 1954-1957. His senior year, he was named All Big-Ten and All-American. He averaged 12.3 points per game for his collegiate career, playing in 65 games. He was selected in the second round (11th pick overall) by the Minneapolis Lakers in the 1957 NBA draft. Harv Schmidt then returned to the Illini as head basketball coach from 1967-1974. It will be exciting to bring home Illini basketball great Harv Schmidt!

They watched and recognized Coach Lou Henson’s 80th birthday and gave Mary Henson a standing ovation, as she was inducted as a Rebounders Lifetime Member. The Rebounders new state of the art website was unveiled and went live a few days later. All time leading scorer and Illini legend, Deon Thomas was the featured speaker and Coach Weber gave a review of the last few games, as well as updates on players and their progress as the Big Ten season continues.
